Robbery is fusion of Lockpick and Steal skills

Lockpick

"Lockpick is a skill of opening locks without the proper key."

Lockpick helps you with opening things, which - by some accident - remains locked. This includes doors, containers, cars... We - lockpickers - take care of all goodies that were, for unknown reasons, closed in dark and forgotten places.

Your best friends on your journeys will be probably lockpicks (giving +25% skill bonus) or expanded lockpicks (+50% skill bonus). Always keep one of them in your pocket, and remember to clean them from time to time.

Other advantages

  • Complexity of crafted lock depends on crafter lockpick skill – The more you have, the harder it will be to open your lock.
  • To lock something (locker/footlocker) simply use lock on it when it's in "open" state.
  • When you successfully open a car or caravan with any Vehicle Key in active slot, key will be assigned to this car or caravan.

Note: Lock pickers don't go to the world map automatically after successfully picking the lock of a car.

Steal

"The ability to make the things of others your own. Can be used to steal from people or places."

The Steal skill allows you to steal items from NPC's or player's inventories, or to plant objects in their pockets. It's not possible to steal items held in hands.

Stealing from NPCs gives you Experience Points - the more successful consecutive steal attempts (without closing inventory window), the more experience you will gain. Each consecutive steal attempt is more difficult. Experience Points for stealing are given in 5,10,15,25,30,40,50,60,70,100,100,... pattern.

Stealing chance

Stealing chance depends on the Steal skill of the thief and the Perception of the robbed person. The size of the item and the direction the victim is facing also matter if the thief doesn't have the Pickpocket perk. Moreover, guards in protected towns can notice stealing near them. They have a lower chance to notice stealing attempts at night.

Stealing failure

The penalty for failing to steal is a reputation drop. If guards in protected towns notice you stealing, you will immediately be shot at by the guards and be tagged as a Thief until you die. - The Thief tag disappears after death.
