A large base inside an old abandoned vault-style survival bunker.
Pre-Built Cost 350k, sold in Necropolis but only via a quest in Junktown
DIY Cost No do-it-yourself option. Can only be purchased pre-built.
DIY Required Resources N/A
Notes The computers do yield Electronic Parts, but the elevator does not work, the machines cannot be fixed, the Mr Handy is permanently inoperable, and the lights are always off. There is a small mine up front but mining here is very slow. One of the locker rooms has a locked door, opened with a Pass Key (Yellow). Not shown here is the large outside map near a cliff side with the bunker's entrance.

Old Bunker is only obtainable once you've completed the Abandoned Bunker quest.

To start this quest you need to talk with Earl, a hunter in the bar near Junktown's south entrance. You will need to have some money with you to buy him a beer via dialogue (already having a beer with you is not good enough, he wants the bar to get a sale). The quest does not register in your Pip-Boy so pay attention to his instructions in dialogue and all dialogue along the way. He sends you to Boneyard to find a man with a scar on his face. You'll know you're on the right track when you get dialogue about it with the NPCs you ask. When you talk with the right one, he'll give you a clue which leads you to Necropolis. Once again, ask around and you'll eventually find someone who has the information you're after. Then find a ghoul named Wally who is somewhere in Necropolis. The Old Bunker base costs 350,000 local currency.

Note: If you find Wally before collecting all the clues, Wally will not give you the base-buying dialogue: you have to talk with NPCs in the right order to complete this quest, and Wally is the last one on the list. If you find Wally before you're supposed to and he refuses to have a proper conversation, it just means you need to keep talking to other ghouls until one of them tells you where to find Wally. In short, it doesn't matter if you already know where Wally is; you need to pass all the checkpoints or you won't be able to pass the finish line.

Here is an old video showing the quest from start to finish.
