That small teal dot just north-west of New Reno is where you join New Reno Wars.

New Reno Wars is a daily event added in Patch 3.5.

It allows participating players to temporarily ally with one of New Reno's infamous crime families (Bishops, Mordinos, Salvatores, or Wrights; assigned at random) and help them gain control of the city.

The event rewards reputation points that can be later used in one of the weekly War Events, or spent in Reno to purchase family-specific weapons (Mordino Taser, Bishop MG, Salvatore Rocket Launcher, Wright Colt) and armor (Mordinos Armor, Salvatores Armor, Wrights Armor, Bishops Armor), as well as 24-hour temporary buffs that can give you 3 bonus APs (Mordinos), double your XP gain rate (Bishops), increase your DTs by 3 (Salvatores), or increase your hit points by 35 (Wrights).

Taking part in three consecutive New Reno Wars events will additionally increase your reputation with all 4 of the families by 10 and give you a random New Reno blessing if you don't already have one; you can use the ~checkbless command to see if you have any active blessing and the ~removebless command to discard it (having an active blessing will prevent you from receiving another). Joining New Reno Wars also upgrades your chance of receiving a T2 War Event Stat by 15% for 30 hours, which is a separate buff unrelated to blessings.

Participating in New Reno Wars is one of the daily quests.

The duration of the event depends on the number of participants. If only one player shows up, the event will only last one minute; if between 2 and 4 players participate, the event will last 20 minutes. If there are 5 to 7 players, it will last 30 minutes, and if there are 8 or more players, it will be extended to 40.

FOnline 3 Discord Server has an #eventlog thread dedicated to tracking New Reno Wars and War Events.

Gameplay

New Reno Wars in progress
The objective of New Reno Wars is to capture and hold control points, represented by flags. To begin securing a control point, left-click the flag in the middle of it. You must remain within the flag's range (shown when you mouse over it) for the entire duration of that process. Each team starts with three flags under their control that cannot be contested.

In the top-center portion of the screen, there are two trackers: the upper one tracks the current score of the four teams; the one immediately below it counts down the time left until the event ends.

In the top-right corner, there is a counter showing your current capture points, which can be spent to upgrade your gear by talking to the NPC at the respawn point.

In the bottom-left corner, the current progress of the control process is being updated in real time; in this case, the Mordino family is defending a control point they already secured, and the Wrights family is attempting to capture a neutral control point.

In the image, you can see two markers: purple, indicating that the point is being captured by an opposing team, and red, indicating it's being captured by your team.

In the course of the event, you will encounter five different flags that indicate the current status of a control point:
  • Controlled by the Salvatores: Bluish purple, with an MFC in the top left and the word "Salvatore" written across the bottom half, left-to-right ascending.
  • Controlled by the Bishops: Beagle brown, with a horizontally-positioned half-full jet canister, slightly tilted to the left, applicator to the left.
  • Controlled by the Mordinos: Brilliant lavender, with two "Little Jesus" knives crossed behind a skull in the middle.
  • Controlled by the Wrights: Light yellow, with a bottom-left-facing eyeball.
  • Neutral: White, usually accompanied by a marker indicating its current capture status.
