Item luck is a value tied to a piece of gear that governs the initial rank of that item's perks, see the table below for details.
The higher the item luck, the higher the likelihood of the affected piece of equipment's getting high armor/weapon perk ranks.
Once an item reaches the legendary perk, you can reset all of its gear perks by using the command ~resetperks, which permanently increases its item luck (reset bonuses stack).

- Base bonus: +10
- Reset bonus:
- Tier I items: +20
- Tier II items:+50
- Tier III items: +100
- Tier IV items: +150
- Tier V items: +200
- Tier VI items: +500
- Rockside bonus: +100
- Rare part installation bonus: +20
- "Wattz" Fusion Core installation bonus: +15
- Reroll bonus: +20
- Luck bonus: +1 for each point of Luck
- Public location crafting bonus: +10
- Scrounger (PvE perk) bonus: +1 per rank of Scrounger
- War Event bonus: +20
- Utility (armor perk) bonus: +10
Loot perks
- Dungeon/contract locker bonus: 5 x item tier
- Case opening bonus: +30
- Trader event bonus: +5
- Trader refill penalty: -20
- Patrol NPC loot penalty: -10
- Dungeon NPC loot penalty: -30
- Generic NPC loot penalty: -50
- Generic penalty (if none of the above scenarios apply): -100
Item luck tiers
Item luck has 12 tiers based on the sum of all applicable item luck modifiers.
The exact amount of item luck needed to reach a specific bracket is intentionally kept secret but the general belief is that each ~10 points of item luck move you up a tier.
