Crafting is the act of using crafting materials to create items. It plays a major role in the FOnline 3 economy.

It is also one of the skills. Many players create crafter alts: characters optimized specifically for crafting.

Investing your hard-earned skill points into Crafting progressively unlocks new crafting recipes.

Also, the higher your Crafting skill, the higher the initial amount of equipment experience points (Gear XP) your crafted items receive on average.

Items crafted in batches of 80+ have their armor/weapon perks upgraded by one rank. This bonus is separate from item luck.

Crafted Gear XP formula

Initial Gear XP calculation is a three-step process.

Step 1: Calculating the base amount of experience points (Base XP).

This is done via a random chance roll with a large spread, whose value is then multiplied by how many items you are creating and double the tier of the items.

Base XP = Random(10000, 200000) * the number of items being crafted * item tier * 2

For example, if you bulk-craft 100 tier II items, the Base XP will be a random value between 4,000,000 and 80,000,000.

Step 2: Calculating the character-specific XP increases (Bonus XP).

The following bonuses are added on top of the Base XP:

  • The value of your Crafting skill multiplied by 1000
  • 50,000 XP if you're using Cutters;
  • 100,000 XP if you're using MacGyver Set;
  • 10,000 XP for each point of Luck that you have;
  • 1,000 XP for each point of Intelligence that you have;
  • 5,000 XP extra for each point of Intelligence that you have if you have the Alien Class Perk.

Step 3: The final calculation.

The total amount of experience points on your crafted gear (Crafted Gear XP) is determined by the following calculation:

Crafted Gear XP = Base XP + Bonus XP

Example

Let's assume that your Crafting skill is 100%, your INT is 5, your LK is 5, you're crafting 100 tier II items, you're not using any tools, and you're not an Alien.

In step 1, your Base XP will be calculated as Random(10000, 200000) * 100 * 2 * 2 = Random(4000000, 80000000).
In step 2, your Bonus XP will be calculated as 100 * 1000 + 5 * 10000 + 5 * 1000 = 155,000.
In step 3, your Crafted Gear XP will be calculated as Random (4000000, 80000000) + 155,000 which means it can be any integer between 4,155,000 and 80,155,000.

Crafting requirements

Low-tier items require only the proper crafting materials and can be crafted by any character.

As you move up the tier list, however, the requirements escalate: higher-tier items demand higher character levels, a higher Crafting skill, and a specific workbench that matches their tier:

A small number of items have their own dedicated legacy crafting machines:

Blueprints

T3 BP
T4 BP
T5 BP
T6 BP

Blueprints (BP/BPs) are item-specific components required to craft all T3 and above items.

They drop mostly from dungeon and patrol NPCs, see the loot table for details.

Blueprints are color-coded by tier: T3 blueprints are blue; T4 blueprints are green; T5 blueprints are purple.

Blueprints are consumed during the crafting process, which means they allow you to use their associated crafting recipe only once.

Workbench

Workbench

Regular (T2) Workbenches can be found in most guarded towns, but a much more efficient solution is to add one to your base.

  • To set up a private Workbench:
    • Gather 50 Metal Parts
    • Use the ~base command while inside one of your bases to open a base menu
    • Click Login -> Password -> Build -> Workbenches, and select it from the list
    • Your Workbench will be placed at your current location

Advanced Workbench

Advanced Workbench

Advanced Workbenches can be found in most unguarded towns, but a much more efficient, and safer, solution is to add one to your base.

  • To set up a private Advanced Workbench:

High Tech Workbench

High Tech Workbench

Crafting tier 5 items requires a High Tech Workbench.

There is currently only one High Tech Workbench in the game, located at 39:41 (Nellis Base).

Cigarette Maker

Cigarette Maker

The Cigarette Maker is used to manufacture Cigarettes.

  • The one and only Cigarette Maker in the game can be found at the Tobacco Farm (26:43)
  • It can produce up to 10 packs per batch; each pack requires 2 x Tobacco to craft
  • To use the Cigarette Maker, left-click it like a normal container, insert Tobacco, use the Science skill on it, wait until it finishes crafting, then collect your product

Nuka-Cola Cart

Nuka-Cola Cart

Nuka-Cola Carts allow you to mix your own brand of Nuka-Cola.

  • There are two of them in the wild, one at the Themepark (36:12), and another at Gordon's Gas Station (14:18)
  • Building a Nuka-Cola Outpost (T3 base) gives you access to a private one
  • You can mix up to 10 Nuka-Colas per batch; the cost is 2 x Fruit + 1 x Water Bag (or 1 x Bottle with Water) per bottle
  • To initiate the crafting process, simply insert the ingredients into the cart like you would into any other container, and use the Science skill on the cart

Still

Still

Stills let you make your own brand of Rot Gut.

  • They can be found in most towns and many bases
  • The Still can produce up to 10 bottles of Rot Gut per batch, each bottle requires 2 x Fruit + 1 x Wood
  • To get started, put ingredients into the Still as if it was a regular container, then use the Science skill on it and watch it go
