Bases in FOnline 3 have come a long way and some of the old info floating around may no longer apply.

They are created with map items that drop from boss encounters, VT cases, dungeons, Infinity dungeon mobs and daily quests. Check Loot Drop for more details.
+
Most bases can be created anywhere using specialized items that can be either crafted, looted, or purchased.

Bases can also be added to a faction, and be automatically shared with faction members by rank. See Player-driven factions for more details.

Faction leaders can convert their private bases into faction bases, which allows them to be automatically shared with faction members; see player-driven factions for details.

Basic information
NOTE: Some resources in bases renew over time, but not all. Base Brahmin do not produce more poop, and if you bring an NPC companion to your base, they will usually kill all the Brahmin there, and the Brahmin will not return. Trees may yield wood once, but they do not regrow. Flint and broc flowers do not regrow either. However, as of Season 2, fiber stalks generate more Fibers, and butcher's tables yield more Meat slices over time. Barrels yield no Junk, and broken computers contain no Electronic Parts.
+
In FOnline 3, bases start in the form of a map item, or a craftable base creation kit, that can be used in any empty randomly generated map to transform it into a base. Once you've chosen the location and used the map, a construction site for the base is established to which you must then deliver materials to complete the construction process. If you're establishing a tier I base using a base creation kit, the resource collection phrase is skipped and your base is instantly ready to use.

+
There are several ways to get your hands on an itemized base:

+
*New characters can get a free Folded Tent, which lets them set up a tier I "Tent" base, by completing the quest A Tent in the Wasteland.
There are two different kinds of bases you can buy: DIY, which gives you a map item to use in an encounter, like a tent, and premade bases that are bought from NPCs and generated somewhere nearby on the world map.
+
*All tier I bases can be established using base creation kits that can be cheaply crafted once your character reaches level 24 provided your Crafting skill is above 50%, see the Tier I section below for details.
+
*Tier I, II, and III bases can be bought for 10,000, 25,000, and 50,000 local currency respectively from Construction Foreworkers in NCR, New Vault City, and San Francisco.
+
*Tier IV and V bases can be obtained as rewards for supporting the game.
+
*All base tiers can drop from the sources with a percentage value in the loot table's "base map" column.

It is recommended that each player has their own faction, so that they can easily and conveniently add their additional characters to all of their bases at once. To do this, it is best to have a separate character who will be the leader of that faction, and the other characters will be added as friends, so that they can see their own bases while also being members of the other faction.

DIY Bases
+
Once you have an itemized base, move to your desired location on the world map, enter it, and then immediately use the base map. This will either create your base or set up a construction site, depending on the item you used. If you used a map to create a construction site, you will need to gather enough resources to finish the construction. The resources can be dropped anywhere on the construction site. Each construction site has a bulletin-board on an A-stand that tracks your progress. When everything is ready, talk to the construction worker to finalize the setup by naming your new base, but make sure that there aren't any valuable items on the ground first as everything on the map will be wiped!

T1, T2, and T3 Do-It-Yourself bases can be bought from a Construction Foreworker for 10k, 30k, and 50k local currency respectively, or found from sources shown in the Loot Drop table. DIY bases allow you to choose the location, but require that you deliver materials to the construction site to complete the construction process. They are available in three places: NCR, New Vault City, and San Francisco.

Legacy premade bases
+
In the old days, bases were inseparably tied to the faction mechanic and could only be purchased by a group of players who wished to establish a faction. While this is no longer true, some remnants of the old system remain available to players who crave for a "blast from the past" experience.

*Construction Foreworker in New Vault City
+
Legacy premade bases don't require gathering resources for their construction; you simply pay a fee and get a ready-to-use base right away. The catch is that the selection of bases is very limited, they don't let you pick the spot where you want them placed (instead, they spawn in the general vicinity of where you bought them), and they do still require that you establish a faction at the moment of purchase.

+
There are three trapper NPCs that sell premade bases, mostly caves, for between 30K and 50K of local currency:

*Construction Foreworker in San Francisco
+
*Smiley in Klamath (Downtown, Buckner House)
+
*Hurl in Redding (Malamute Saloon)
+
*Earl in Junktown (Bar just south-east of the hospital building)

+
Additionally, if you're looking for something truly exceptional, the Old Bunker premade base is also still available for 350,000 units of the faction currency that Necropolis uses. And it too will require a faction to purchase.

Building your base
+
This section contains a complete list of all the bases currently available to FOnline 3 players.

Take the item and go to your desired location on the world map. Enter an encounter and use the base map. This will either create your base (T1) or set up a construction site (T2+). The new construction site will have a control terminal and a progress billboard. You will need to gather a certain amount of resources to finish the construction. You can drop the resources anywhere on the construction site to accomplish this. Check the progress billboard to see what is needed.

Tier I
+
Tier I bases have one parking spot and do not require a map; you can simply craft their their base creation kits, such as the Folded Tent or Patch Kit, and use those instead, which lets you skip the material gathering process.

After gathering all of the required materials, you can talk to the construction worker again, and he will ask you to name the base. The base's name is not bound in any way to a faction name.

Premade Bases
+
The menu allows you to customize your base in several ways: you can add objects (lockers, decorations, and even an Advanced Workbench), ask the base to automatically populate (according to the rules you set) your containers with items that are currently on the ground, and enable other characters to access it. And if you decide that you don't need one of your bases anymore, there's also an option to destroy it.

Any character of any level who is not already in a faction can start one (Need to confirm a faction is needed for these bases). This can be done by buying your first base. If you are already part of a faction (such as Vault City, BoS, Enclave, Mordinos, another player's faction, etc.), you will not be able to buy a base. You must first leave your previous faction before you can start or join another faction's base. Once a character starts a faction, they automatically become its leader. Only the faction leader can buy additional bases for that faction. However, each player can build their own base if they have a map bought by another character or looted.
+
Base location sharing
The Cave Base
+
If you wish to grant access to one of your bases to another character, you can do so via map access objects.

* Cost: 33k caps

* DIY Option: No

* Towns: Klamath, Redding, Junktown

* 0 parking spots

The Cave, really easy to defend but a bit small. It is divided into two parts: the cliff side with a cave entrance on an empty desert map, and inside of the cave itself. It contains the usual crafting tools (Workbench, still), a brahmin pen and only 3 lockers. It's not a cost effective base since Depot has more containers and is sold at the same price, but the cave does have one advantage: it's very easy to defend because you just have to put mercs or slaves in front of the tiny cave entrance. The cave is the only base you can purchase from all three of the base sellers. Because of this, the Cave is one of the most varied bases around as it can be purchased almost anywhere for a measly 33k caps.

The Depot Base
+
A map access object can be either a stationary object that you built in your base and designated as such, or a map item that you created by copying the location of your base onto an Empty Map.

* Cost: 30k caps for pre-built Depot

* DIY Option: Yes

* Towns: Klamath

Depot is a small outpost, with 3 lockers, 2 desks (one looks like a workbench), 2 shelves, and 2 table. 9 containers total when you consider it also has a workbench with the standard toolboard for small storage above it and a still. There's also a brahmin pen containing one brahmin. On the map, you can find wood and flint (does not replenish). It's a good and cheap base, and the spawn is straight below the door and chairs outside. Guards can be placed to the far right of the spawn, near the trees. They will have the small spawn area directly in their sight. Base locations seem to typically be somewhere to the West of Klamath. The Depot is sold in Klamath, and is the same price as the Cave, yet offers considerably more in terms of storage space. Depot can be purchased from the base seller Smiley in Klamath. He is located in the bar and hotel at the Main entrance.

The Scrapheap Base
+
If you don't have any Empty Maps, you can craft one. The requirements are as follows: Advanced Workbench, level 50, Crafting 150%, 3 x Fibers, 3 x High Quality Fibers.

* Cost: 70k caps for pre-built Scrapheap

* DIY Option: Yes

* Towns: Redding

Scrapheap is a popular base costing 70 000 caps. It is larger than Depot or Cave. Its location is often between Redding and Broken Hills. It contains 5 lockers, a workbench, a still and a brahmin pen. The Scrapheap offers a low amount of resources when compared to other bases, with the Cave being on similar grounds yet having a bigger brahmin pen and more brahmin than both Depot and Cave. Scrapheap is Redding's specialty base. It is sold from the Redding base seller who is located in the Malamute Saloon, which is above the Doctors building.

The Outpost Base
+
To set up a stationary map access object:

* Cost: 130k caps for pre-built Outpost

* DIY Option: Yes

* Towns: Junktown

A pre-built outpost is the most expensive base, second only to the bunker. It is very easy to defend because it is surrounded by walls, and has three buildings plus two tents, and is probably the most popular base amongst most players. Its location on the world map will often be between NCR and Junktown. It has 10 containers, a workbench, a still, a water pipe, a well, fibers plants, and a larger brahmin pen with more brahmins than other bases. New characters can shovel more poo in peace. It's a large map with plenty of space on the ground to lay out rows of important items. The Outpost base is the speciality base sold from the Junktown base seller, who is located in the very first building after entering Junktown via the south gate.

Trapper Camp Base
+
#Place 1 x Junk, Wood, or Metal Parts in your inventory.

+
#Use the
~base
command.
* Cost: 50k caps for pre-built Trapper Camp
+
#From the menu that appears, choose the [Build] option.
* DIY Option: Yes
+
#Select any object to build it.
* Towns: Klamath
+
#Select "set as a map access object" from the list that appears once the object has been built...
* Car parking slots: 10
+
...and you're done! Anyone that interacts with the object you just built will gain access to the base it's in. You can use the Science skill on the object to remove its ability to grant map access.

Gas Station Camp Base
+
To copy the location of your base onto an Empty Map:

* Cost: 50k caps for pre-built Gas Station Camp

* DIY Option: No

* Towns: Redding

Old Bunker Base
+
#Set up a stationary map access object following the instructions above.

+
#Place an Empty Map in your inventory.

+
#Left-click and hold the map access object.
* Cost: 350k caps, base available via Abandoned Bunker quest
+
#Choose the backpack icon from the drop-down menu that appears.
* DIY Option: No
+
#Left-click the Empty Map...
* Towns: Unknown, base available via Abandoned Bunker quest
+
...and you're done! Any character that uses the map will gain access to your base, or bases (an Empty Map can store up to 10 locations).
The bunker is by far the most expensive base. While the outside part of the map is very difficult to defend, an enemy will have a very difficult time getting to the inside of a well-guarded bunker. It has fifteen lockers, a crate near its still, two computers that contain electronic parts, four private rooms in the back with showers, a waterpipe, a broken Mr Handy robot, a broken elevator, and wall safes that are often overlooked. The room with four lockers is locked with a yellow pass key, making it safer to store your valuables in the event of a raid, for a total of 23 storage containers plus a workbench. It houses a large conference room with a big-screen video display toward the back for those important meetings. Besides its massive amount of storage space, the mouth of the bunker opens into a small mine with iron ore and minerals, making this by far the best base money can buy. Oddly enough, the base has no brahmin pen.

WARNING: If a map access object gets blown up with explosives, its associated base will be deleted. It is highly recommended to disable map access by using the Science skill on the object as soon as it is no longer needed.

Bases can be shared, can build storage items, decoration items, as well as Patreon benefits like teleporters.

In every base you have access to (you can see its location on the world map) you can build and destroy workbenches, containers and decorations.
+
Every base you can see on the world map allows you to build workbenches, containers, and decorations.

On containers and doors you can put Lock or Fingerlock, such an object cannot be destroyed until the lock is broken.

Doors and containers inside a base can be secured using Locks or Fingerlocks, which also protects those objects from accidentally getting deleted.

The Easy Base Sorting system (EBS) allows you to set per-container rules for automatic distribution of loot so that it can then distribute any loot you drop on the ground for you semi-automatically.
+

+
To access EBS, use the
~base
command, wait for a dialog window to appear, then click [Login] → [Password] → [EBS].
+

+
This will present you with five options. Here's what they do:
+

+
*[Information] displays some basic information about the system;
+
*[Edit Container] allows you to edit containers (one at a time);
+
*[Wipe.exe] distributes all of the items currently on the ground to their respective containers according to the rules you've set. If there is more than one container that an item could go into, the container with the lowest ID (i.e. the one that was created first) will be used.
+
*[Back] takes you to the previous menu.
+
*[Exit] closes the dialog window.

+
*If the container has either the "can't be walked on" or "can't be shot through" property enabled, the correct hex to mark will display an X in the middle when you try to step on it.
+
*To mark a hex, press and hold the left alt key, left-click the hex you wish to mark, and then select one of the commands (Attack, Defend, or Move) from the menu that appears.

Selecting the [Edit Container] option allows you to perform several operations on the currently selected container: you can (re)name it, set custom rules for it, or reset it and start over.

*[Rename container] lets you set a custom name for the marked container that will display on hover.
+
*If you don't name the container, it will instead display the custom rules that were applied to it as its label.
+
*To undo the renaming, simply use the "Rename container" option again without providing a new name.
+
*Note that resetting the container will not clear its custom label.
+

+

+
[Set Global Rule] allows you to select a category of items, such as drugs or ammo that will be placed in the container. Note that rare items (such as the Water Chip) are separate from rare parts (such as Unique Plasma Parts, and that body armor is separate from helmets.
+

+
[Set Rule 1], [Set Rule 2], [Set Rule 3], [Set Rule 4], and [Set Rule 5] allow you to assign a specific item (rather than a group of items) to the container. The item you wish to assign to the container must be in your active hand slot for this to work.
+
+
[Set Tier] allows you to relegate all items of a specific tier to the container.
+

+
[Set Minimum Rank] allows you to exclude items based on the sum of their perk ranks. The value has to be between 1 and 56. Keep in mind that rank F = 1, rank E = 2, rank D = 3, rank C = 4, rank B = 5, rank A = 6, rank S = 7, rank S+ = 8.
+

+
[Reset Container] removes all of the rules from the container. The custom name you gave it will remain unchanged.
+

+
Once you're done setting up the containers, drop your loot on the ground and execute [Wipe.exe] to distribute the items to their assigned containers.
+

+
Note: Since vehicle trunks are containers, it is possible to modify them using the EBS as well. To find the correct hex to mark, simply have your character access the trunk and they will position themselves on an adjacent hex, facing the trunk's location.

Bases are private locations established and controlled by individual players. They provide a safe space to store loot and relax that cannot normally be accessed by anyone the owner did not invite.

Bases in FOnline 3 have come a long way and some of the old info floating around may no longer apply.

Most bases can be created anywhere using specialized items that can be either crafted, looted, or purchased.

Faction leaders can convert their private bases into faction bases, which allows them to be automatically shared with faction members; see player-driven factions for details.

Basic information

In FOnline 3, bases start in the form of a map item, or a craftable base creation kit, that can be used in any empty randomly generated map to transform it into a base. Once you've chosen the location and used the map, a construction site for the base is established to which you must then deliver materials to complete the construction process. If you're establishing a tier I base using a base creation kit, the resource collection phrase is skipped and your base is instantly ready to use.

There are several ways to get your hands on an itemized base:

 • New characters can get a free Folded Tent, which lets them set up a tier I "Tent" base, by completing the quest A Tent in the Wasteland.
 • All tier I bases can be established using base creation kits that can be cheaply crafted once your character reaches level 24 provided your Crafting skill is above 50%, see the Tier I section below for details.
 • Tier I, II, and III bases can be bought for 10,000, 25,000, and 50,000 local currency respectively from Construction Foreworkers in NCR, New Vault City, and San Francisco.
 • Tier IV and V bases can be obtained as rewards for supporting the game.
 • All base tiers can drop from the sources with a percentage value in the loot table's "base map" column.

T2 base map.png 25,000 currency
III

IV
T4 base map.png random drop only
V
T5 base map.png random drop only

Once you have an itemized base, move to your desired location on the world map, enter it, and then immediately use the base map. This will either create your base or set up a construction site, depending on the item you used. If you used a map to create a construction site, you will need to gather enough resources to finish the construction. The resources can be dropped anywhere on the construction site. Each construction site has a bulletin-board on an A-stand that tracks your progress. When everything is ready, talk to the construction worker to finalize the setup by naming your new base, but make sure that there aren't any valuable items on the ground first as everything on the map will be wiped!

Legacy premade bases

In the old days, bases were inseparably tied to the faction mechanic and could only be purchased by a group of players who wished to establish a faction. While this is no longer true, some remnants of the old system remain available to players who crave for a "blast from the past" experience.

There are three trapper NPCs that sell premade bases, mostly caves, for between 30K and 50K of local currency:

 • Smiley in Klamath (Downtown, Buckner House)
 • Hurl in Redding (Malamute Saloon)
 • Earl in Junktown (Bar just south-east of the hospital building)

Additionally, if you're looking for something truly exceptional, the Old Bunker premade base is also still available for 350,000 units of the faction currency that Necropolis uses. And it too will require a faction to purchase.

Available bases

This section contains a complete list of all the bases currently available to FOnline 3 players.

Tier I

Tier I bases have one parking spot and do not require a map; you can simply craft their their base creation kits, such as the Folded Tent or Patch Kit, and use those instead, which lets you skip the material gathering process.

Designing your own base

The mapper tool, now in a much improved version 2.0, is available to all players. Everyone is welcome to design their own base and submit it. For more information, see this Discord message.

Base management

To access the base management menu, press Enter to toggle the message bar, type ~base, and hit Enter again to confirm.

Base location sharing

If you wish to grant access to one of your bases to another character, you can do so via map access objects.

A map access object can be either a stationary object that you built in your base and designated as such, or a map item that you created by copying the location of your base onto an Empty Map.

If you don't have any Empty Maps, you can craft one. The requirements are as follows: Advanced Workbench, level 50, Crafting 150%, 3 x Fibers, 3 x High Quality Fibers.

To set up a stationary map access object:

 1. Place 1 x Junk, Wood, or Metal Parts in your inventory.
 2. Use the ~base command.
 3. From the menu that appears, choose the [Build] option.
 4. Select any object to build it.
 5. Select "set as a map access object" from the list that appears once the object has been built...

...and you're done! Anyone that interacts with the object you just built will gain access to the base it's in. You can use the Science skill on the object to remove its ability to grant map access.

To copy the location of your base onto an Empty Map:

 1. Set up a stationary map access object following the instructions above.
 2. Place an Empty Map in your inventory.
 3. Left-click and hold the map access object.
 4. Choose the backpack icon from the drop-down menu that appears.
 5. Left-click the Empty Map...

...and you're done! Any character that uses the map will gain access to your base, or bases (an Empty Map can store up to 10 locations).

WARNING: If a map access object gets blown up with explosives, its associated base will be deleted. It is highly recommended to disable map access by using the Science skill on the object as soon as it is no longer needed.

The above guide is also available in video form at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB51i8ESe6I.

Interior decoration

Every base you can see on the world map allows you to build workbenches, containers, and decorations.

Doors and containers inside a base can be secured using Locks or Fingerlocks, which also protects those objects from accidentally getting deleted.

Loot sorting automation

 • If you wish to edit a container, you must first select it by marking the hex, or one of the hexes, that the container occupies.
 • If the container has either the "can't be walked on" or "can't be shot through" property enabled, the correct hex to mark will display an X in the middle when you try to step on it.
 • To mark a hex, press and hold the left alt key, left-click the hex you wish to mark, and then select one of the commands (Attack, Defend, or Move) from the menu that appears.

Selecting the [Edit Container] option allows you to perform several operations on the currently selected container: you can (re)name it, set custom rules for it, or reset it and start over.

 • [Rename container] lets you set a custom name for the marked container that will display on hover.
 • If you don't name the container, it will instead display the custom rules that were applied to it as its label.
 • To undo the renaming, simply use the "Rename container" option again without providing a new name.
 • Note that resetting the container will not clear its custom label.

[Set Global Rule] allows you to select a category of items, such as drugs or ammo that will be placed in the container. Note that rare items (such as the Water Chip) are separate from rare parts (such as Unique Plasma Parts, and that body armor is separate from helmets.

[Set Rule 1], [Set Rule 2], [Set Rule 3], [Set Rule 4], and [Set Rule 5] allow you to assign a specific item (rather than a group of items) to the container. The item you wish to assign to the container must be in your active hand slot for this to work.

[Set Tier] allows you to relegate all items of a specific tier to the container.

[Reset Container] removes all of the rules from the container. The custom name you gave it will remain unchanged.

Once you're done setting up the containers, drop your loot on the ground and execute [Wipe.exe] to distribute the items to their assigned containers.

Note: Since vehicle trunks are containers, it is possible to modify them using the EBS as well. To find the correct hex to mark, simply have your character access the trunk and they will position themselves on an adjacent hex, facing the trunk's location.

The trunks that can be tricky to find are in the table below:

Base security

 • To avoid having your base raided, make sure you do not have any unwanted followers before you enter.
 • Use Fingerlocks to secure your valuables.
 • Consider putting some defenses (such as mercs) around the perimeter in case a Mad Scientist pays you a visit.
 • Try not to die while carrying an Empty Map that contains the coordinates of your base(s).
