Template:Special A high Strength is good for physical characters. Each point in ST scales with Carry Weight, Throwing-Range, Melee Damage and more. Full table in S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
You suffer hit chance penalty if don't have enough Strength to handle weapon, though this can be countered with increased weapon skills.

Tips

Higher Strength is beneficial to all character builds. Tank builds often have a strength of 6 to allow for Level Perk Stonewall. Pugilists often have ST 7 or more. Low strength results in a decreased carry weight, so its wise to get Support perks Strong Back and Pack Rat. You can also increase CW with one of PvE_Perks, Strong Back Lite after level 55.

Check the Strength requirement for whichever weapon You intend to use in Weapons. For each point missing under a weapon's ST requirement, your Hit Chance is penalized by 20%. However, with no level cap, You can get weapon skill high enough to compensate. Add drugs and possibly a implants, and even a sniper can have proper Hit Chance at max range with base ST 1.

Strength is very important to miners and crafters as well, because they benefit from a high Carry Weight.
