User interface (UI) is a collective name for all the buttons, menus, windows, bars, counters, timers, and message boxes that appear on the screen when FOnline 3 is running.

Fix-Boy

Fix-boy is a tool in your Pip-Boy that helps you craft various items.

To open the Fix-boy window press the Fix-button.gif button or press F.

Fix-Boy has several filters:

  • all - display all items
  • weapons, armor, ammo, drugs
  • misc - everything except weapons, armor, ammo, and drugs

In the top-right corner is a counter that shows the number of items that fixboy will craft when you click the "fix" button.

You can craft up to 100 items at one time by clicking the "fix all" button. When the "fix all" button is active, the item counter displays "00." The crafting materials required to craft the items must be in your inventory for this to work.

Crafting list

Fix-Boy's list of craftable items is color-coded:

  • Items with a green name can be crafted right away
  • Items with a red name can't be crafted, most likely because you don't have the requisite crafting materials, level, Crafting skill, or Workbench access

The range of items available for crafting expands as you level up your character and increase your Crafting skill.

Crafting process

To craft an item:

  • Open the Fix-Boy window and select the item you wish to craft from the list
  • Once clicked, the item will display its crafting requirements
  • If you meet the item's crafting requirements, press the "fix" button and it will be created

Pip-Boy

Pip-Boy 2000 Handheld Device.

The Pip-Boy 2000 Personal Information Processor is a small hand-held device, much like a PDA. Not to be confused with the Pip-Boy 2000 Plus, a wrist-worn model which is used by Chosen One, and Vault Dweller.

Pip-Boy has many useful functions:

  • Archive that saves data received from any Holodiscs that you've used
  • Automap creates and stores in its memory a map of any location you visit
  • Status that tracks quests and your cooldown timers. If you press the "Statistics" button, it will show you the leaderboards. It's also where you can check who currently controls the BC/ZC/TC locations.

Preview

Preview allows you to choose a specific entry point and scout the area before you go in

Any world map location can be entered immediately with a left-click. However, if the location you're about to enter is unguarded, it may be a good idea to use the "Town World" button first. This will bring up a menu that lets you select a specific entry point and preview it (the "eye" icon) before entering to see if the coast is clear.

This effectiveness of the preview depends on your Perception. You can highlight contours of players and NPCs obscured by buildings by pressing the Contours button while previewing locations.

Quickbar

Quickbar is a tool designed to assist players in managing their equipment.

Setup

The Quickbar can be enabled or disabled by pressing Shift+F4.

QuickBar.png

Quickbar slots can be edited individually; just left-click them while holding Ctrl, Shift, or Ctrl+Shift.

  • Ctrl - Main hand slot, Second hand slot, Armor slot.
  • Shift - Skills: Sneak, Robbery, Engineering, Trap, FA, Doctor, Science, Repair.
  • Ctrl+Shift:
    • Follower Commands - Numeric keypad can also be used for follower commands.
    • Item abilities
    • Commands

Use

Quickbar can be used for weapon swapping, which frees up the second hand slot.

If a player has only one weapon equipped and clicks on the slot containing that weapon while using the Quickbar, it will be unequipped, leaving the player with an empty hand.

If a player has multiple weapons of the same type (e.g., two 10mm SMGs), the slot will switch between these two weapons. This is advantageous for weapons with low ammunition count and significant reload time. However, the Quickbar cannot unequip these weapons.

Switching weapons costs 1 action point and all the other actions that can be assigned to a quickbar slot (using stimpaks or other drugs, or swapping armor) have their own associated costs as well.

Tips

The Quickbar functions even when it is not visible on the screen.

The Quickbar's default position is above the AP bar but some resolutions may interfere with that.

Registration menu

The character registration defaults.

The registration menu is where you create your character. It is not a planning tool, however. This is only where you fill in all the information you need to register a new character. It is best if you carefully plan your character in advance of registration. Here, you choose the following:

Note: It is possible to choose certain combinations of stats that are invalid, in which case the registration process will yield an error. For example, if you choose Bruiser, you get +4 points to Strength, so trying to set a Bruiser's Strength lower than 5 will not work.

See the Character page for more related links.

Age

Your character's Age determines how old you are. This value is chosen on the Registration menu, and cannot be changed. This value can be set between 14- and 60-years-old.

The description for your character is affected by how old you are:

  • If you are between 14 and 19, your description will be: ____(teenager)____
  • If you are between 20 and 29, your description will be: ____(young man)____
  • If you are between 30 and 39, your description will be: ____(middle-aged man)____
  • If you are between 40 and 60, your description will be : ____(old man)____

Note:

  • You can see when your character was born, by using ~myinfo command
  • For every in-game year that passes, your age will be increased accordingly.

Sex

Your character's gender: Hmjmpsaa sw.gifMale or Hfjmpsaa sw.gifFemale.

Cooldowns

Cooldowns in your Pip-Boy
On-screen cooldowns

Cooldowns are set time periods during which a player character is prevented from performing specific actions. Any such currently active timeouts are displayed in the bottom-right portion of the screen. They can also be found on the Status page of your Pip-Boy.

Examples

  • Replication cooldown triggers when you die, delaying your respawn.
  • Game exit cooldown triggers when you log off, delaying your character's disappearance from the game.
  • Battle cooldown triggers when your character attacks or takes damage, preventing it from performing certain actions such as repairing gear or leaving the map.
  • Skill cooldowns trigger when you use a skill that has a cooldown, such as Robbery, Doctor, or First Aid.
