Reroll is a feature that allows you to recreate a character so that its Levels are retained for reuse by a new character. When you Reroll, you delete an existing character which produces a Book of Achievement in its place. Then re-register a new character with the same or different name, choose the SPECIALs, and the tag skills. Once he's in the game, get the Book of Achievement and "use" it to reclaim the Levels of the deleted character. This will allow you to re-distribute new Skill Points and to choose new Perks as you go, one chapter of the book at a time.

NOTE: If you use a character with Intelligence 10 to level up to level 30, and plan to Reroll him and use his Book of Achievement on a new character with only Intelligence 1 for example, you do not get the same amount of Skill Points. ==Words of Warning==
+
Character rerolling is not to be confused with armor/weapon perk rerolling.
*Rerolling only works if the deleted character had 10k caps in his inventory at the time of deletion.

*Rerolling a character is a permanent and irreversible decision, though you can Reroll a character more than once

*Rerolling a character gives back that character's Levels only.

*The new character gets a new ID, and the original character's ID is lost

*Support perks are lost, so the new character will need to get some of them again

*Professions are lost

*Blueprints which the character learned are lost

*Surgically installed Implants are lost

*Skill Books read by the deleted character are lost

*Items in the deleted character's inventory are lost

*Followers are lost

*Reputation gets reset

*Kill counts and quest progress are lost

*Faction membership is lost. The deleted character will be automatically disassociated with whatever faction he was in. This can cause major problems if he was the leader of a faction. Leadership can be claimed by someone else in that faction if there is at least one member there promoted beyond "Recruit".

*All Tent, Safe House, and faction base map markers get erased, although the tents themselves do not get removed. To see them again, maps need to be created in advance of the Reroll, and left where the new character can find them.

*Discovered public locations that are hidden by default, like train stations, will be hidden again.

To Use
+
Procedure
To Reroll a character, use the ~deleteself command while standing in a tent/house/base and while having at least proper count of caps in his or her (or it) pocket (form: your character's level * 1000, f.ex: 15 level character requires 15,000 of caps in pocket during reroll) in that character's inventory. Wait 3 minutes for full logout, or deletion does not happen. Be careful! The ~deleteself command permanently deletes a character.

If done correctly, you will see the following text message:
+
To reroll a character, use the ~reroll command while in a base.

INFO: You will receive Achievement Book after your character disappears from game.
+
Rerolling has the base cost of
your level * 1000 currency
.

After that character is deleted, a Book of Achievement will appear on the ground in that same hex where the deleted character was last standing. That book can then be used on a new Level-1 character to gain the levels of your deleted character. The book will disappear when used completely. Obviously, it can't be used on more than one character.
+
However, if your Barter skill is at 150+ (or 130+ for characters with the Bloody Mess trait), rerolling will only cost you 10,000 currency, regardless of your level.

Note The only way this works is if the deleted character is higher than Level 1, and the new character is exactly level 1.
+
Characters that are still in Rockside can be rerolled for free.

The new Level-1 character picks up the book and "Uses" it. This instantly levels him up once. Distribute Skill Points and use the book again over and over until the new character has all of the Levels of the deleted character. You do this one level at a time, and choose Perks along the way.

*Any lower amount of caps in your inventory will not work. It won't work if you'll miss at least one cap!

*Whenever you log out or delete a character, it will remain in-game in logout mode for a few minutes, inactive. During this time, make sure nobody kills the character or steals the 10k caps from his inventory.

*Be sure nobody pushes your character off of the map during his logoff cooldown. The Book of Achievement will only appear if there is no such interference.

*Pay close attention to which character you are deleting/re-rolling.

IMPORTANT: When using a Book of Achievement to level up a new character, be very careful to distribute Skill Points as you go. The Skill Points queue only holds a maximum of 99 at a time, so it is possible to use the book too many times and exceed this limit. If that happens, you end up with fewer Skill Points for that character because the overage is immediately lost. The same thing happens when you're leveling a character in the normal way - distribute Skill Points before that pile up too much. Don't let the Skill Point queue reach 99 as you level up!

Once the book restores your final level, it disappears.

Another common pitfall is reading Cat's Paw Issue 5 by mistake. Be careful!

In the unlikely scenario that you end up one level below what you were at before the reroll, use the First Aid skill on yourself and the issue will be fixed.

Rerolling interface with some free rerolls from daily quests

The ~reroll command allows you to remake your character while retaining its current level.

Rerolling lets you reset your SPECIAL, class, skills, perks, traits, etc.

Any War Event stats or mutations you have installed and skill books you have read will be returned to your inventory. Implants will also be placed back in your inventory, alongside free implant installation tokens.

Character rerolling is not to be confused with armor/weapon perk rerolling.

Procedure

To reroll a character, use the ~reroll command while in a base.

Rerolling has the base cost of your level * 1000 currency.

However, if your Barter skill is at 150+ (or 130+ for characters with the Bloody Mess trait), rerolling will only cost you 10,000 currency, regardless of your level.

Characters that are still in Rockside can be rerolled for free.

Important information

 • Rerolling will remove ALL the currency from your character's inventory. Make sure you only have the minimum necessary amount.
 • If you need to leave your base before you finish reading your leveling book, leave it in the base where it's safe. It won't be possible to get it back if you lose it!
 • You can gain extra skill points per book via temporary SPECIAL buffs. Take Mentats, Roentgen Rum and equip armor with the Bonus Intelligence armor perk on it. If your character qualifies for the Educated support perk, get it as soon as possible.
 • Make sure to choose a level perk every 3 levels! Perks not chosen are perks lost.
 • If you gain a level other than by reading your leveling book while there are still levels left in the book, the book will be rendered unusable and you will have to reroll again.

IMPORTANT: if you reroll into the Chosen One class, stop your reroll at level 30, leave your leveling book in your base, and go to Klamath to become the Chosen One. Once you do, pick your extra perks right away or they will be lost.
IMPORTANT: if you reroll into the Cyborg class, do not install implants with tokens or currency or they will be lost after your next reroll!

For a smooth rerolling experience, follow these steps:

1. Put the exact amount of currency (caps work best because they're the cheapest) that you need into your inventory
2. Use the ~reroll command by typing it in the chat
3. Choose your new SPECIAL and traits and press the "Init Reroll!" button
3a.You should now have all of your implants, books, and WE stats, as well as a Book of Achievement in your inventory
4. Before you start reading, use Mentats and Roentgen Rum to buff your Intelligence
5. Read all of your Outdoorsman books and Science books
5a.For faster reading, use ctrl + left click
6. If your base Intelligence is at least 8, drop everything safely in your base (ctrl + D) and get the Educated support perk. Your Science skill must be ≥ 100%.
7. Return to base and start reading your Book of Achievement, carefully choosing a level perk every 3 levels
8. Take your class perk asap; it will allow you to gain all of the remaining levels with a single click
9. Type ~pve to conveniently select your PvE perks using a dialog window

The diary of an experienced wastelander.

The Book of Achievement is generated whenever a character is rerolled. Only the character whose reroll created the book can use it, going up by one level each time.

Once the book restores your final level, it disappears.

If you level up during the process of reading the book by any means other than the book itself, you will need to reroll again. This has a good chance of happening during the trip to New Adytum to get the Educated support perk; to prevent it, enable the "safe travel" option to disable XP gain from random encounter detection (after you press Esc, it's on page 1 in the "misc" tab). Another common pitfall is reading Cat's Paw Issue 5 by mistake. Be careful!

In the unlikely scenario that you end up one level below what you were at before the reroll, use the First Aid skill on yourself and the issue will be fixed.
