Books are pre-war repositories of the knowledge that ended the world as they knew it, ready to teach you the skills you'll need to survive what's left.

Basic facts

  • Skill books provide a (4 + INT) skill-point bonus to their associated skills and are consumed on use.
  • One character can only use up to 10 copies of each skill book to gain skill points.
  • Reading a skill book cannot increase the current level of its corresponding skill above 150%.
  • Reading a skill book with the Learning skill maxed out (200/200) will increase the cap of its corresponding skill by 10%. This is separate from reading books for skill points and can be repeated until the skill cap reaches 1000%.
  • When you ~reroll a character, any books it has read will be returned to its inventory.
  • Temporary/conditional increases to your Intelligence stat, such as from drugs or armor perks, allow you to get additional skill points from reading books.
  • Books weigh 3123g and have a base cost of 2500 currency units.
