Experience points are a reward for completing specific tasks or defeating non-player enemies in combat. More experience points are required to attain higher levels. For example, you need a total of 1000 xp to get to level 2, and a total of 210,000 to attain level 21.

NOTE: No xp is earned for killing player characters.

What can earn you some experience points

  • Killing non-player enemies. The more powerful your enemy is, the more experience points you get.
    Total XP = (( HP x 2 + AP x 15 + each DR * 3 ) x 2(if Boss) ) * their own exp multi.
    On encounter everything which is human, ghoul, mutant or robot have 100%, rest have 250%.
  • Completing a quest.
  • Using your skills successfully (Repairing an item, healing someone, etc.).
  • Avoiding a random encounter on the world map.
  • On a special occasion from a Game Master (e.g. for winning a contest etc.).
  • Do Shit shoveling or Lifting caravan boxes jobs.

Experience Gain

  • Character starts with 100%.
  • Loner Trait increase Experience Gain by 10%
  • For each +1 Charisma, you get +2% to Experience Gain.
  • You can also get Support Perk Swift Learner to boost 10% on you experience Gain.
  • -0,1% Experience Gain per current level.

Maximum you can achieve 160% EXP-Gain

Weapon and Armor Experience

Your worn equipment gains experience points from kills alongside you, gaining perks specific for every armor and weapon. Only currently equipped armor and weapon in active slot will gain experience. You can view the current experience, experience required for the next level and unlocked perks on a piece of equipment by examining it.

Total amount of Experience required for equipment to level up depends on its tier, type and current level.

Equipped weapon gains experience by killing NPCs or via Upgrade Parts. With enough experience, new perks unlock, and the item's color changes.
Weapon perks have ranks that determine their power level; they are mainly influenced by item luck.
Perk 1-3 The first three perks are always predefined.
Perk 4 The fourth perk can be chosen via a dialog window once unlocked. However, if you level up your weapon using Upgrade Parts, this perk will be random.
Perk 5 The fifth perk is always random.
Legendary Perk The sixth perk, a.k.a. the "legendary" perk, is selected from a separate table of perks. Its effect applies only against NPCs.
Perk 7 Every weapon can be upgraded by Roger (in Salt Lake) or Cotsford (in Las Vegas) to gain one additional perk.

Rerolling

Weapon perks can be rerolled by Boyce in Junktown or Randal in New Vault City. The cost is in local currency and applies to a single reroll. Since the outcome is randomized, multiple rerolls will likely be necessary to achieve the desired perk configuration.

Weapon experience

The total amount of gear XP required for a weapon to level up depends on its tier, type, and current level.

Itemized gear upgrades

There are two item types that can help your gear achieve the optimal perk configuration: upgrade parts (which provide an immediate gear XP boost), and gear mod upgrades (which have a chance of increasing the rank of your already unlocked perks).

Weapon XP boosters

Found mostly in dungeon lockers, Upgrade Parts add experience directly to your weapons. Note that any perks unlocked via this method will be randomized, even if you would normally be able to select the one you want.

To use Upgrade Parts on an item: (1) place the weapon on the ground; (2) click and hold the left mouse button on it; (3) from the drop‑down menu, select the bag icon; (4) in the inventory window that appears, click on the stack of Upgrade Parts you wish to use.

Weapon perk rank upgrades

If the rank of the perks on your weapon could use a little tune-up, there are several items that you may find interesting, see the table below.

To use any of them: (1) place your weapon on the ground; (2) click and hold the left mouse button on it; (3) from the drop‑down menu, select the bag icon; (4) in the inventory window that appears, click on the item you wish to use. Alien weapons are only compatible with GMU1000.

==Introduction==
# Description
Your equipped armor gains experience when you kill NPCs. You can also give it XP by using Upgrade Parts on it. When enough experience is earned, new perks unlock, and the armor's color changes.
Armor perks vary in effectiveness depending on their rank. Armor perk ranks you get and are heavily influenced by item luck.
Perk 1-3 The first three perks on tier 3 gear are always predefined. Some tier 4 items may have random perks even on the first three levels.
Perk 4 The fourth perk can be chosen via a dialog window once unlocked. However, if you level up your weapon using Upgrade Parts, this perk will be random.
Perk 5 The fifth perk is always random.
Legendary Perk The sixth perk, known as the "legendary" perk, is selected from a separate table of perks and only applies against NPCs.
Perk 7 Every weapon can be upgraded by Roger with a T4 part, or Cotsford in Last Vegas with a "Wattz" Fusion Core to gain one additional perk.

Rerolling

Itemized gear upgrades

There are two item types that can help your gear achieve the optimal perk configuration: upgrade parts (which provide an immediate gear XP boost), and gear mod upgrades (which have a chance of increasing the rank of your already unlocked perks).

Gear experience boosters

Found mostly in dungeon lockers, Upgrade Parts add experience directly to your gear. Note that any perks unlocked via this method will be randomized, even if you would normally be able to select the one you want.

To use Upgrade Parts on an item: (1) place the item on the ground; (2) click and hold the left mouse button on it; (3) from the drop‑down menu, select the bag icon; (4) in the inventory window that appears, click on the stack of Upgrade Parts you wish to use.

# Description
Equipped weapon gains experience by killing NPCs or via Upgrade Parts. With enough experience, new perks unlock, and the item's color changes.
Weapon perks have ranks that determine their power level; they are mainly influenced by item luck.
Perk 1-3 The first three perks are always predefined.
Perk 4 The fourth perk can be chosen via a dialog window once unlocked. However, if you level up your weapon using Upgrade Parts, this perk will be random.
Perk 5 The fifth perk is always random.
Legendary Perk The sixth perk, a.k.a. the "legendary" perk, is selected from a separate table of perks. Its effect applies only against NPCs.
Perk 7 Every weapon can be upgraded by Roger (in Salt Lake) or Cotsford (in Las Vegas) to gain one additional perk.

Itemized gear upgrades

There are two item types that can help your gear achieve the optimal perk configuration: upgrade parts (which provide an immediate gear XP boost), and gear mod upgrades (which have a chance of increasing the rank of your already unlocked perks).

Weapon XP boosters

Found mostly in dungeon lockers, Upgrade Parts add experience directly to your weapons. Note that any perks unlocked via this method will be randomized, even if you would normally be able to select the one you want.

To use Upgrade Parts on an item: (1) place the weapon on the ground; (2) click and hold the left mouse button on it; (3) from the drop‑down menu, select the bag icon; (4) in the inventory window that appears, click on the stack of Upgrade Parts you wish to use.

==Introduction==
# Description
Your equipped armor gains experience when you kill NPCs. You can also give it XP by using Upgrade Parts on it. When enough experience is earned, new perks unlock, and the armor's color changes.
Armor perks vary in effectiveness depending on their rank. Armor perk ranks you get and are heavily influenced by item luck.
Perk 1-3 The first three perks on tier 3 gear are always predefined. Some tier 4 items may have random perks even on the first three levels.
Perk 4 The fourth perk can be chosen via a dialog window once unlocked. However, if you level up your weapon using Upgrade Parts, this perk will be random.
Perk 5 The fifth perk is always random.
Legendary Perk The sixth perk, known as the "legendary" perk, is selected from a separate table of perks and only applies against NPCs.
Perk 7 Every weapon can be upgraded by Roger with a T4 part, or Cotsford in Last Vegas with a "Wattz" Fusion Core to gain one additional perk.

Rerolling

Armor perks can be rerolled by Boyce in Junktown or Randal in New Vault City. The cost is in local currency and applies to a single reroll. Since the outcome is randomized, multiple rerolls will likely be necessary to achieve the desired perk configuration.

Itemized gear upgrades

There are two item types that can help your gear achieve the optimal perk configuration: upgrade parts (which provide an immediate gear XP boost), and gear mod upgrades (which have a chance of increasing the rank of your already unlocked perks).

Gear experience boosters

Found mostly in dungeon lockers, Upgrade Parts add experience directly to your gear. Note that any perks unlocked via this method will be randomized, even if you would normally be able to select the one you want.

To use Upgrade Parts on an item: (1) place the item on the ground; (2) click and hold the left mouse button on it; (3) from the drop‑down menu, select the bag icon; (4) in the inventory window that appears, click on the stack of Upgrade Parts you wish to use.
